A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Imo state, Barr. C.O.C Akaolisa has come down heavily on the former House of Representatives member who represented Orlu, Orsu and Oru West between 20017 -2011, Hon. Chukwudi Eze Mayor describing him as an infantile political charlatan who allegedly was instrumental to the massive fraud that hallmarked the former Gov. Achike Udenwa administration.
Barr. Akaolisa who was debunking a recent attack on him by Eze, came via a press release entitled “We Regret Making Udenwa Governor in 1999”, apparently as a response to what he described as the spirited effort of Hon. Eze to defend the ex-governor in the raging war of words between them and the ex-governor. He argued that Hon. Eze is not fit to speak for Chief Udenwa because he knew next to nothing about his political relationship with ex-Governor, Udenwa.
According to him when they worked round the clock in 1999 to install Chief Udenwa as governor, Hon. Eze was in Lagos doing small-small businesses “but only surfaced soon after the election to use local Orlu connection to come into the administration and allegedly proceeded to turn it into a cesspool of corruption.
For instance, he alleged that Eze who was also former executive chairman of Orlu LGA and Imo ALGON chairman contrived a fraudulent scheme with which he diverted fifty million naira from the allocation of the 27 local governments to fund the five kilometer roads that were never constructed till today.
Apart from the alleged deduction from the councils, allocation, Barr. Akaolisa disclosed that the administration was also involved in fraud on the issues of Concorde Hotel renovation, Orlu regional market as well as other alleged monumental fraudulent activities, even as he restated his earlier claim that the Udenwa era remains the bloodiest in the history of the nation since independence.
While insisting that he spent his hard earned resources, time and energy to make Chief Udenwa governor in 1999 including working alongside Chief Mike Ahamba to defend his victory in court he said he decided to quit two years after its inauguration when the government corrupt tendencies reared its ugly head. He stressed that the then government could only pay him back with wicked deeds such as threat to his life and revocation of his father’s landed property at Area A, New Owerri.
The fiery lawyer alleged that contrary to Hon. Eze’s claim that he took him to Chief Udenwa to apologize to him for his ceaseless attacks, it was him (Hon Eze) that came begging for him to appeal to Senator Hope Uzodinma to give him the PDP Orlu Assembly ticket and House of Reps ticket to one Mrs. Nwaizu and himself. He added that the senator turned down the request and insisted that every aspirant must face the primary election.
The renowned lawyer recalled that Senator Uzodinma, despite the attacks on him by Chief Udenwa and his camp remains the authentic leader of PDP in Orlu zone just as he dismissed the ex-governor,s claim to leadership of the party. He insisted that the party can survive without the ex-governor of Imo State and his boys as they have consistently been betraying the party since leaving office in 2007.
