Despite the crisis, violence and disagreements training the deadlocked People’s Democratic Party, PDP, ward congresses in Imo state, a chieftain of the party, Chief Sam Osuji, has predicated better days ahead for the opposition party.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, the state capital on the outcome of the exercise, Chief Osuji, a Former Transition Committee Chairman of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area , LGA, of the state who is in the race for the state chairmanship position of the party, said that every activity during the congress was in line with the rules and guidelines of the PDP.
Chief Osuji, a former state chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, said that the scenarios that played up during the ward congresses were indications that the party is a formidable one in the state.
According to him, while he did not rule out crisis that greeted the processes, he was happy that there were no incidents of injuries, death or anyone being hospitalized.
On the forthcoming state congresses, Chief Osuji who is a native of Amaraku in Isiala Mbano LGA, asserted that his ability to reshape and reposition the party, capacity to lead and integrity to serve stands him out amongst other contestants.
Chief Osuji who revealed that he had remained in the party since its formation in 1998, said that his consistency as a committed and loyal party man, coupled with his experiences and dynamic approach to issues of the party’s welfare stands him out as the party’s best option for the plum position.
The politician promised that if elected, he would bring to bear those measures that strategically position the party for electoral gains in the next dispensation and set guild lines to reward committed and strong-willed members of the party.
