The leadership of Imo State Police Command, Thursday, decorated 31 deputy Superintendents of Police, DSP, to the rank of Superintendents of Police, SP.

Advising the promoted officers during the decoration ceremony which held at the command headquarters in Owerri, the state capital, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu enjoined them to see their promotion as an act of God and reward for excellent performance.

CP Lakanu said that promotion comes with more responsibilities, commitments and dedication, noting that more discipline was expected of them.

The commissioner of police admonished them to shun acts that would denigrate the image of the police or cast aspersions on their new rank.

“I always tell people to know the meaning of their ranks. As a Superintendent of police, what it means is that you are to superintendent more officers, where you are expected to do well”, the CP said.
Mr. Lakanu urged them to drop bad habits and embrace positive attitudes and always look up to God for success in life.

The police chief averred that “don’t ask your boys to give you money, because it reduces your personality and rank.

“Taking of bribe brings curse, so I urge to show discipline and love to your families”.

Some of the officers promoted were, Blessing Ejifugha, wife of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Imo Civil Guard, Donatus Ewe Ejifugha, Paulinus Asogwa, former personal assistant to the CP and now DPO, New Owerri, Vitalis Onugu, officer in charge of anti-monitoring and many others.
