The recent announcement of the members of the Transition Committees of the 27 council areas of Imo State has sparked off protests in Orlu Council Area of the state as leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the area have said some of those whose names were announced were imposed candidates whose names were not in the original list signed and forwarded to the state government by them.

The angry leaders are insisting that the anomaly must be corrected if the party is to continue to remain strong and united in the council, failing which some of them would have no other option than to quit positions they are occupying in their various wards.

Leading the protest march is the Government Liason Officer GLO, for Okwuabala Ward, Dr. Remigius Udeagha who made his position known through a text message he circulated to leaders of the party in Orlu Local Government Area.

Dr. Udeagha is not alone in his protest as the lawmaker representing Orlu in the State House of Assembly, Hon Marcel Odunze, has also vowed to get to the root of the matter because it would amount to setting a bad precedence if the political insult was allowed to go scot free.

Investigation revealed that the APC leaders in the council were miffed because those whose names were substituted were serious committed party members who worked so hard during the last elections to deliver all the candidates of the party at a time those who have come to reap where they did not sow were busy playing anti-party activities.

It was gathered that the candidates whose names were substituted included Owelle Isdore Egemole of Okwuabala Ward and Mr Shedrack Ariunihu of Amaifeke Ward.

Reliable sources said that accusing fingers are being pointed in the direction of the Transition Committee Chairman of the Councils Hon Ijeoma Igboanusi who had on many occasions in the past reportedly vowed that she must ensure that her Personal Assistant, Mrs Chika Okoli and Mrs Okpara Stella were included on the ground that they are Nneoma Coordinators in their wards.

But when contacted one of the candidates Owelle Isdore Egemole, whose name was substituted he debunked the claim that the women were Nneoma coordinators, disclosing that were not even Nneoma members, not to talk of being coordinators.

According to him, the T.C chairman has continued to use the name of the wife of the governor to perpetrate injustice and fraud in the council, adding that now was the right time to put a stop to her deceitful attitude.

When the T.C chairman was contacted on phone to get her own side of the story her phone rang repeatedly without a response.
