The forthcoming election of  Imo royal fathers is continuously  gathering momentum in the state as expectations are going high; the pendulum is dropping in the Council of Ndi Eze where many have started to register their disapproval for  the  2nd term bid of H.RH, Eze Oliver Ohiri for the next five years.

According to HRH Eze Saviour in a recent press chat with newsmen at Oguta, Eze Oliver Ohiri has actually helped the traditional council in Imo State since his assumption of office as the Eze Imo, there have been improvement in the traditional system because ndi eze in some quarters have been recognized in the government of the day, since an  Eze cannot be arrested by a Police corporal, stating that this is not all for the Traditional stool.  Eze Utazi stated that since the inception of Eze Ohiri as Eze Imo, he has suspended 60 royal fathers alleged that about 5 royal fathers die monthly, while about 2000 of them may die before the expiration of his second term if he emerges in the forthcoming election.

He said that he is going to contest the forthcoming election of the Eze Ndi Imo since he is sure that Eze Ohiri has lost credibility and many of are not happy with him, considering the facts on ground.

Eze Utazi who is the Utazi III of Umuofeke Autonomous community in Agwa, Oguta Local Government Area in Imo State explained that, he is aspiring to be the Eze Imo in order to enhance the development of the state traditional stool for the progress of all Ndi Eze such that, a Traditional ruler in the state would equal those in the North, West and South/ South where they are accorded respect in the nation.


The Utazi III of Umuofeke maintained that if he is elected, he will ensure that the royal fathers will have the logistics to operate and also assist to sustain peace and orderliness in their various communities.

Eze Utazi added that he was going to work to ensure that the dignity of Ezeship is upheld for the interest of the culture of the heartland of the Igbo race. He urged other traditional rulers to support his emergence which is for their own interest and growth. Utazi III of Umuofeke thanked Governor Okorocha for having given them the opportunity to elect Eze Imo.
