Tempo has reached fever pitch in Okigwe as the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC rise in unison to condemn in totality the gruesome murder of their party member in Ezinachi Okigwe, Late Mr. Kennedy Ekeledo Maduka last weekend.

Rt. Hon. Ihim while addressing a congregation of Okigwe people drawn from the academia,      political class, traders, artisans, religious leaders, royal fathers and community leaders frowned at what he called the height of human cruelty and berated the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for masterminding the inhuman act.

Speaking amidst tears, the state’s number three citizen gave kudos to APC members for remaining calm in the face of intimidation and oppression, saying that vengeance is the Lord’s and vowed to ensure that justice will be carried to the letter. Rt. Hon. Ihim recounted his scorecard and APC’s development roadmap to the thunderous applause of the apolitical crowd as he urged them to be part of the new history by linking Okigwe Zone to APC’s national caucus in the forthcoming re-run election.

Speaker Ihim averred that PDP is characterized by election fraud and violence which he affirmed prompted the Independent National Electoral Commission to cancel the election indefinitely, hence his appeal to their supporters to remain resolute in their vow to vote massively for APC.

Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri, Special Adviser, SA, Political to Governor Okorocha, Hon. Matthew Omegara and Chief Sunny Chiadi, Transition Committee, TC Chairman Okigwe Local Government in their speeches emphasized the importance of electing an APC Senator from the South-East and especially, of Imo extraction.

While on a condolence visit to the bereaved family, Rt. Hon. Ihim described the deceased as an APC “General” and lamented his untimely death as he assured them of their party’s support at all times.
Head of the deceased family, Mr. Sylvanus Maduka who lamented the painful death of their son, appealed to the Speaker and his party members for assistance and thanked them for the visit.

Okigwe Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Iwu who accompanied the Speaker’s entourage said though the matter is now at the State Headquarters, Owerri, assured that nothing will be swept under the carpet in the cause of their investigation.
