As the crisis ridden Imo State chapter of the people’s Democratic Party, PDP, congress is expected to take place Wednesday, a chieftain of the party, Dr Ijeoma Ann Nwafor has averred that only sacrifices, love for the party, desire to offer purposeful opposition would make the party win back the state in 2019.
Barring her mind ahead of the forthcoming contentious Congress of the party, Dr Nwafor expressed dissertisfaction and regrets over the events of the recent where leaders of the party have been at daggers thrown over issues she considered as being trivial and not to had caused problems.
The American trained psychologist said that at this stage what the main opposition party needs across the federation, especially in the eastern Heartland state are men who love the party unconditionally and are ready to make sacrifices for the growth of it ahead of the next general election.
Dr Nwafor asserted that a party in opposition ought to be very tactful, articulate, grassroots orientated for it to win elections , saying that ego and quest for self-ostentation is the bane of the PDP in the state.
According to the born in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, LGA, but married in Mbaitoli LGA of the state, all contending factions in the party might be right in their pursuits but superior reasoning like the party achieving electoral success as soon as possible should take the lead stage.
To Dr Nwafor she can’t wait to see PDP in the state take over the government house, advising the fighting groups to do away with ego, selfishness and pride and consider those facts that would strengthen the party especially at the wards level as the Congress is held tomorrow.
The female PDP chieftain desired to see a new main opposition party after the Congress, where all stakeholders would be United in ambition and quest in tinkering ways of sending the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, parking from the state as soon as possible .
