The “4th Memorial Lecture and Events” marking the remembrance of late Prof. (Major-General) Celestine Onyemobi Elihe Onwuliri, FAS, KSJI, ALOH, former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTOW), will hold on Friday, June 3, 2016.
The special event is being organized in the collaboration of the ‘Professor Celestine Onwuliri Foundation’ (PROFOUND) a Non-Governmental Organization and the Supreme Subordinate Commandery /Auxiliary Knights of St. Johns International, KSJI. The venue of the memorial lecture will hold at Enugu where Most Rev. (Dr.) Mathew Hassan Kuka has been selected as the unique Chairman of the occasion and His Excellency, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu State, will officiate as the Special Guest of Honour.
It will take place at DRACC, Emene in Enugu State with Big General (Barr.) George Ikiomouton (Ph.D) as Guest Lecturer, Rev. Fr. Brig. Gen. Clement Obasi, as Spiritual Director and Major-General Anselem Okafor as Chief Host. Many dignitaries across the 36 states and Abuja especially Nigeria University Commission (NUC) Directors are expected to participate actively in the one day event.
On Sunday June 5th, 2016, presentation of the 3rd Edition of Professor C.O.E. Onwuliri’s Memorial Scholarship instituted by the International Liaison of Mbaise Indigenes (ILMI) in Diaspora, will take place at St. Jude’s Catholic Church Amuzi, Aboh Mbaise, LGA of Imo State, with a memorial high mass.
According to one of the Directors of PROFOUND, Prof. Iyke Dozie, also a former lecturer of IMSU before he joined FUTOW, the general public is invited to participate and contribute to sustaining the foundation. However, it was noted that though a former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and widow of Celestine Onwuliri is the Chief Host.
