Staff of Imo State owned radio and TV stations, Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) Owerri, have locked up the entrance gate of the corporation over non-payment of salaries.

The staff who threatened to lock the gate last week, went ahead to do it, with all of them gathering in front of it, waiting for government officials.

Imo state government is owing the full staff about four months’ salary, while the cumulative salaries owned the contract staff in the corporation is about 10 months, including a dud cheque that was issued to them last year.

As at press time, both Orient TV and radio stations are offline, while the striking workers are not showing any sign of going back to their normal duties until the salary arrears are cleared.

Already, Barr. Ezekiel Oparah been appointed as the acting Director General in place late Evangelist Esther Obong Egbuna who died recently after slumping a function.

The workers are also alleging that the past Director General, Evang. Esther  Obong Egbuna must have died of accumulated tension, following her inability to pay four months salary arrears and 36 months pension arrears.
