The member representing Mbaitoli /Ikeduru federal constituency of Imo State in the house of Representatives, Abuja, Hon. Henry Udochukwu Nwawuba has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Mrs Bridget Patience Mike on Thursday in Kano state, North West – Nigeria by suspected Muslim faithful.

Mrs Mike who until her unfortunate death hailed from Orodo in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, South East – Nigeria was beheaded and paraded about the market by her killers who accused her of blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammed during a religious argument.

Condemning his constituent killing, Hon. Nwawuba said that those who hide under religious doctrines to spill human blood must not be allowed to get away with it because no religion encourages blood sheds.
The reps member who bemoaned the murdering of Mrs Mike, a member of Deeper Life Bible Church, urged people to avoid things as the gruesome killing which are capable of triggering ethnic and religious war.

He urged the Federal Government through the security Agencies to swiftly bring the killers of the woman to justice, explaining that allowing the murderers to walk away with it will further endanger the peace and security of the country.

Hon Nwawuba said that actions and strategies should be put in place to avert future recurrence by making sure that those who kill get deserved penalties.

The Federal lawmaker who commiserated the Mike family of Orodo community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area for the provoking killing of their wife and mother, the people of Mbaitoli /Ikeduru federal constituency, Imo people, the Christian community and indeed all Nigerians, said that issues that promote ethnic cohesion and love should be promoted and not tribal and religious tempests.

Part of the statement reads “while I condole with the family of the deceased, all Christians and indeed all Nigerians over the beheading of Mrs Bridget Patience Mike in Kano state on Thursday , I want to urge the federal Government to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice swiftly , I pray God to save Nigeria from factors threatening our National security, unity and growth.”
