Imo State based artistes will on Sunday June 26, 2016 at Rock View Hotel Owerri, Imo State, honour media practitioners in the state in an event tagged ‘Smile Heartland 2016’.
The event which is being facilitated by a onetime Nigeria Highlife Artiste of the Year winner, Ugo Stevenson who is also a renowned event compere will honour practitioners in the electronic media, bloggers, on-air personalities, independent newspaper publishers, Disk Jockeys, news reporters and patrons of arts in Imo State.
Ugo Stevenson who is the acting chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners Imo State said the 2016 edition is 8th in series of the event which has honoured the likes of legendary Engineer Bruno, late Raymond Ayuba and others who have made great marks in the arts, culture and entertainment industry of the state.
He said that the main aim of the event is for artistes to say ‘thank you’ to the aforementioned groups for their patriotic approaches to the issues of arts, culture and entertainment in the state. He is working in partnership with the office of the recently appointed Senior Special Adviser to Governor Rochas Okorocha on Entertainment, Hon. Irouno Chukwunonye.
Part of the release for the event also has it that distinguished sons and daughters of the state would be honoured as arts patrons for their roles in promoting arts in Eastern Heartland. “This is the 8th edition in the series of our honour event to individuals and institutions whose committed efforts have sustained the development of the arts, culture and entertainment industry in Imo State”, Ugo Stevenson who is popular known as ‘Nda Chineke’ said.
The event which will be taking place at Rock View Hotels is expected to be an evening of unlimited music, comedy and theatrical entertainment from the entertainment practitioners in the state. It will be kicking off with a Yellow Carpet by 2:00pm, admission is free of charge.
