The wife of Imo State Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, has called for synergy between Imo State based artistes and media practitioners in the state, adding that it is the only way the industries can grow.
Mrs. Okorocha made the call at the 2016 edition of ‘Smile Heart Land’, a ‘thank you’ event organized by Imo State Based Artistes [ISBA] to appreciate media practitioners in the state on Sunday, July 26, 2016 at Rock View Hotels Owerri, Imo State.
She pledged the total support of her office to the cause which is being initiated by veteran highlife artiste and even compere, Ugo Stevenson in partnership with the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment, Hon. Chukwunonye Irouno, saying that her doors are always open and the entertainers can always call on her anytime.
Also speaking, Ugo Stevenson said that the call for synergy between Imo State based entertainers and media practitioners is overdue and it is obvious that without the media, the entertainment industry is worthless. He then called for the promotion of more local contents, urging the entertainers to imbibe the media spirit.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment, Hon. Chkwunonye Irouno, said that his office will turn around the face of entertainment in the state, by improving the lives of entertainers through good policies.
Hon Irouno added that his office is committed to building a brand new industry and ensuring that Imo State based entertainers take their rightful place at both the national and global scenes.
The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Acho Ihim; Chief of Staff to Government House Owerri, Hon Uche Nwosu; House of Representative member, Deacon Chike Okafor; Senator Ifeanyi Araraume; Chief Ambrose Ugboja; former Super Eagles Skipper, Kalu Nwankwo; Owerri Zone’s Senator SamDaddy Anyanwu, amongst others were honoured as Patrons of Arts in the event which attracted who is who in Imo State.
Speaking on behalf of those honoured at the event, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Hon. Acho Ihim said that he is overwhelmed by the honour, and promise to keep supporting the industry in ways he can.
Others at the event include, Former Speaker of the State House Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu; Veteran show promoter and Commissioner, Dr. Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri State House members amongst others.
