Mechanics in Imo State have cried out to the Rescue government led by Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha to reconsider his relocation policy for the utmost benefit of the people.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, the Orji Mechanic village chairman, Pastor Lawrence Ihenacho recently alleged that the state government is yet to officially notify them on the relocation policy.
Pastor Ihenacho said, that even the area they were told to relocate to, have not been shown to them, enable them know their portion of land and how to erect structures on it.
He maintained that the state government has given them upto June 15, 2016 to relocate, whereas government have not provided them any site to erect on.
The Orji Mechanic village chairman emphasized that, the said site they were asked to pack in is still a forest as there are no infrastructures put in place for them energise their system.
According to him, “ we are not animals that live in forest, we are all bonfide and illustrious sons of Imo state with certificate of occupancy of our allotted space which government is aware of it and have not valued it to ascertain the cost as it will be improper if government will pull us out with the way they acting this will amount to breach of fundamental human rights which is undemocratic.
He added that the state govt. can not tell them to relocate to a site when no official letter from authorities has notified them.
Pastor Ihenacho further said that they expected the Ministry of Lands, Surveys and Urban Development to have back up the process with a letter identifying the specific area and also the guide line for them to embark on it.
