When cast and crew feel so excited about a movie that is partly in the head of the director and the memory cards of the cameras, one thing will surely be certain about it. It is extraordinary.
The cinema thriller, ‘The Last Call’ which is being produced by Charles Amadi’s KMA Media has already found its way in that ‘extraordinary’ class as everyone involved in the production is confessing that it is one of its kind.
Charles said that the movie which starred the likes of Mary Uche, Frankinscence Eche-Ben, Fizzy Darlington, Kelvin Dim, Val Ugochukwu, Okafor Isabella, Naomi Kenny, Conac Umez, Mary Patrick Odoh, Dave Ogbeni, and others was inspired by his environment, thinking, hardship and prayer.
“It’s an intense horror movie. I think it gonna be the first of its kind in Nigeria’s Nollywood. I thought about it and came out with the story”, he said. “it’s about corps members who got a huge mansion to live in, on a platter, not knowing it was haunted”
He denied they are making a copy of another Hollywood story, adding that it is an original intense thriller which everyone should be looking forward to seeing on cinemas across the country and beyond. He added that when he contacted Dandy Chukwuemeka Echefu [Emeka Amayo], nephew to legendary Amayo Philips, as the director of the cinema thriller, he was thrilled by the excitement from the director.
“When I saw the script, I embraced it with my whole heart” the director, Dandy Chukwuemeka Echefu said. Dandy said he had always wanted to do his own thriller and the script gave him something close to what he already had in mind.
“Unlike what we have in Nollywood movies: love, breaking of hearts, family stories, we will be able to have a thriller. Something people can imagine and something that was never copied from anywhere. It will be entertaining, informative and educative” he concluded.
Starting with Mary Uche, a bulk of the cast had something exciting to say about the production which is still going on.
Mary Uche said: ”It’s one of its kind. It’s a good script and something I have never done before and I am looking forward to killing it. I want to give it all, give me best to make it work. I see the movie as not just something that will entertain people but one that will also educate people on some choices they make in life”
“The first time I saw the script, I just asked the writer where he was getting all those imaginations from. Most productions I’ve been involved in are something that has happened somewhere. People hardly cook up something new for a movie like he did. Everyone on set is making sure they put in their best to see that the movies turns out to be the best like we see it”, Kelvin Dim, whose death in the movie is already creating media buzz said.
Frankinscence Eche-Ben who is staring as the lead male actor has this to say: “Every movie has it’s own uniqueness and this one is a beautiful thriller. When I read the script, I thought it was really a beautiful piece of work and I was looking forward to being a part of it. I would have felt very bad if someone had contacted me after seeing the script to tell me that I would no longer be a part of the cast because the story is worth being in”
Beauty Queen cum actress Okafor Isabella could not hide her excitement, she said: “I’ve placed this movie where people might not really believe it will get to because it has something different from every other movie I’ve been in”
“Working on this movie is making me a better actress because of the director who he has been bringing out the best in me. The movie will be a big hit in cinemas because the story line is very strong and so many people would want to see it, especially the youths” that is what Noami Kenny had to say about the movie.
On what makes the production special, Mary-Patrick Odoh said: “It is not like every other movie we see on daily basis. It has an intriguing story line, which took an unexpected direction that will wow many people. It’s a horror movie people will have to learn from. Too bad my character died but it is a lovely movie and I am so positive about everything in it”
“This is my first horror movie. It is a very unique story and will be going places. I felt bad when I realized my character would be dying in the movie, but there was nothing I could do about it because just being a part of this project is already a lot of fun for me” Fizzy Darlington concluded.
Getting almost close to the concluding part of the shooting which is being done in Owerri, Imo State, Charles Amadi, adding that they would be looking forward to post-production works after which a premier would follow. He hailed the crew and cast for their efforts in making his dream a reality.
