The She Needs a Roof Project, SNARP of the wife of the Imo Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, which has entered its fourth phase since inception, has once again provided shelter for more indigent widows from across the 27 LGAs of the state.
Meanwhile, out of the 22 houses built in this fourth phase, 10(ten) have been commissioned, and handed-over to the beneficiaries, with the commissioning and handing-over ceremony of four of the fully furnished modern 2-bedroom bungalows recently to some indigent widows namely: Mrs Florence Akubaa and her 15years old grandson Odinaka Akubaa, from Nchoko Amiri in Oru East LGA, Mrs Mabel Ahamefula from Umuezealachukwu Amandugba, Mrs Sussana Nwandu from Amaigbo and Mrs Uzochi Nnadi from Abba both in Nwangele LGA.
Commissioning the bungalows in the different communities, the Governor’s wife, was excited that for the first time in their lives, the widows would experience what it means to sleep on a good bed and make use of modern toilet facilities.
Mrs Okorocha expressed happiness at being used by God to bring solace and restore hope to the indigent widows and orphans, urging people to make themselves available to be used by God to put smiles on the faces of those who have forgotten how to smile because of poverty.
She maintained that for the society in which we live to be better, there is the need to shun materialism, political, religious and tribal sentiments, but rather those of priviledged status should lend assistance to the poor.
She enjoined people to see all children as precious and out just their biological children should be given special care, pointing out that in Igbo culture, every child is the responsibility of all.
Reacting, the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the wife of the Imo Governor, Nneoma Okorocha for putting smiles on their faces at a time when all hope was lost.
The indigent widows recounted with tears the inhuman conditions under which they were forced to live due to extreme poverty until God sent succor to them in the person of Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha.
Highpoint of the Commissioning ceremony in the different communities was the handing over of the keys to the houses to the beneficiaries as well as presentation of several clothing materials (wrappers and blouses etc) and cash gifts to them.
Present at the ceremony were political appointees and elective office-holders from the three Local government areas who were in attendance to identify with Mrs Okorocha’s SNARP initiative.
It should be recalled that a total of one hundred and seventy-two SNARP houses have been built and furnished by the Imo first lady for indigent widows and orphans across the state.
