It is normal for an event to be a talking point when it has come and gone and the Founder of www.otowngist.com who was privileged to have a feel of the brand new awards said the organizers deserves more praises than they have received so far.
Hardy’s Otown Gist outfit came out victorious as their artiste Floxy won in one of the categories and not relying on that, he said that people don’t really understand what it takes to run an award platform.
“It’s always easy to recharge your phone and write on social media, but this one is something else. It is a brand that is still growing and they deserve our full support so that they can grow and become as big as other platforms in the West”, he said.
With some artistes complaining about the DJ and how MC Two Can Talk treated them on stage, Hardy said; “I think it’s high time artistes in Imo State started taking their issues personal. If you feel a certain DJ or MC is disrespecting a whole lot of you, deal with the person and it could be a lesson to others. Last time at Imo Carnival, I watched DJ Vicky Lee turn of the generator to end performances, only to turn it on again to play music for close to an hour and no one did a thing. You don’t expect anyone to fight for you and you can’t transfer aggressions to another person’s brand all because the individual is working for the brand”
He hailed the CEO of the awards, Stanley Akalonu aka Esure, adding that Hot 99.5 FM Owerri staff has done well with the initiative. “You can see they took the whole thing to a brand new level and they deserve all the accolades they can get” Hardy who was nominated in the first edition of the awards said.
“He had a great team out there and I think the award judgment was awesome. They deserve our praises because Esure did everything on his own. It’s never easy to find someone who is willing to spend his money and time on others. They are already upgrading things and should be given that needed support to fly high” Hardy added.
He then called on artistes to either confront anyone they have issues with or keep being on the receiving end. He said: “Artistes keep receiving the thrash from everyone. They are always the punching bag; anyone can climb the stage and say bad things about them, but only they can stop it if they take actions”.
