After calling off the 2015 edition Starlett Awards, the organizers have come out with reasons for their actions and why they have kicked off the 2016 edition.

According to the CEO of the Awards, Nkem Alan, the last edition was called off for administrative reasons as well as the fact that they could not meet some of their targets. She revealed that the nominee list received lots of critique because of its weakness, adding that they also failed to land some of the sponsorship deals that could have seen them run the event smoothly.

“We couldn’t land the core sponsors we were looking for”, she said. “Our nominee pool was also weak because those in charge failed to do proper consultation before the voting commenced. We are really sorry for what we put the nominees through, having made them spend so much time on the voting, but we are back and better”, the entertainment entrepreneur added.

Nkem who is a Mass Communicator with years of Business Development experience  however assured everyone that the 2016 edition of the awards will be of every standard anyone can ever think of, adding that they are using every tool available to them to ensure that the event leaves and indelible mark on every heart that will witness it.

We have also planned out a better publicity strategy that will ensure we impact hugely in South-East by inspiring a brighter future for the entertainment industry”

Starlett Awards, packaged by Starlett Entertainment recognizes and honours talents and hard work in the South-East Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. It has gone a long way to ensure that a great award giving platform exists in the South-East regions against the general notion that every great such brands must be based in Lagos.

Even when the 2016 edition is being organized for entertainers based in the South East region, Nkem Alan said; “This edition is for South-East and one of our target is to become Nigerian edition of BET Awards in future, which means we would be expanding to the entire country by next edition”
