The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Imo State, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has encouraged Imo youths to be prepared to take over the leadership of the state and country.

Nwosu who was represented by his Special Assistant on political matters, Hon. Ken Ejiogu was addressing members of Imo youth parliament who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Imo State Government House.

He described the group as a replica of the Imo House of Assembly and expressed happiness at the spread of the parliament, which have members and representatives from all the local government areas in the state.

“Prepare to take over the mantle of leadership. With what you are doing now, you are on training, so you should take your training serious and never allow anything make you to derail or push you away from your target.

It is the time you as youths take your destinies in your own hands. Youths should continue to be strong and vibrant support base, and shouldn’t be only vibrant during elections just to actualize the dreams of older men and be abandoned afterwards.”

On their requests which included being recognized by a law of Imo State House of Assembly, the Chief of staff to be their patron, a trip to Abuja among others, the representative of the Chief of Staff promised that his principal who is youth friendly will work towards the actualization of all of them.

Earlier in their address presented by the Speaker of the parliament, Rt. Hon. William Opara, the parliament described Nwosu as the touch bearer in the efforts for youth emancipation, whose bearing light they must shadow in.

They used the opportunity to present their requests to the Chief of Staff. Some of their requests included; facilitation of the passage of the existence of Imo parliament into law as an executive bill, financial aid, to facilitate their legislative training, induction and seminar in Abuja for a period of 3 days.
Other requests of the parliament as read out by their speaker include; request for Ugwumba Uche Nwosu to be their state patron and for the Chief of Staff, to help them make out  space for His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha inorder to meet, and present their birthday gift to him.

In the vote of thanks presented by Rt. Hon. Nwana Stanley-Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, he thanked the Chief  of Staff through his representative for granting them audience and prayed God to continue to inspire him with more leadership ingenuity for him to continue being a blessing to the society.
