As the fight against unprofessionalism in the Disk Jockeying business continues, the Vice President of the Professional Disk Jockey Association of Nigeria PRODJAN, in Imo State, Mr Olebara Uchechukwu Anthony aka DJ Blaze McBede has pledged to train about 30 professional female DJs in the next 24 months.
Speaking after their maiden PRODJAN state conference on November 1, 2016, at the Imo International Conference Center, Hall 2, Owerri, the singer cum on-air-personality revealed that even when mediocrity has taken over the profession, there is need to to look on the side of females in the trade and ensure that they get the necessary trainings that will enable them compete with other favourably in the business.
Dj Blaze McBede who also a resource person at the conference, spoke on the importance of professionalism in the trade, urging the upcoming DJs to avoid the shortcuts of using technology without knowing the etiquettes of the business. He lamented on the high level of laziness amongst youths especially as they always shy away from obtaining professional trainings in any trade nowadays.
Speaking on the success recorded by his outfit, BMB Media, Events & Entertainment, Blaze Mcbede who is fondly known as The BMB Dude on Radio and TV, revealed that in the last three years, he has had about 60 trainee DJs (20 each year) with only six of them fully graduated. He then announced the commencement of 2016 applications/Free registration for Female trainees with the target being to have about 30 female graduates in no distant time.
“BMB Media, Events & Entertainment will make sure that by 2020, female DJs will have a firm stand in the entertainment industry” he said, adding that there’s a great need for capacity building in the entertainment industry especially as it concerns females.
The conference also featured sensitization talks by the Copyright Society of Nigeria; the Health and Welfare of the DJ; The importance of the media to the DJ was handled by Mr. Chinedu Hardy Nwadike and the need for professionalism in PRODJAN.
There was also award presentation to organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of the association. Organizations honoured include Hot 99.5 FM, Zanders 105.7 FM, Titanic View Hotels, Ibari Ogwa Entertainment Village and Orange Room, while Chief Cyril Amako, Chief Bethel Chukwuemeka Nzimako, Hon. Chukwunonye Iruno, Mr. Ifeanyi Okpara [Ifeco Communications], Mr. Chinedu Hardy Nwadike, Chief Ignatius Okeahialam, Evang. Mike Ikoku and Mr. Iyke Obichere were among the individuals honoured.
There was also a postevent hangout at the Bongo Center, featuring lots of entertainers, including Mc Ominimini of Zanders FM, Reflex Soundz, MC Yellow Mouth, SA on entertainment Hon. Iruno Chkwunonye, etc.
