Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has hinted that Owelle Rochas Okorocha led Recsue Mission Administration is keeping to its promise of resuscitating moribund industries in Imo StateĀ and providing employment to the teeming unemployed youths.
Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere who represented the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha made this remark while performing the unveiling ceremony of the resuscitated Statesman Newspaper at the premises Imo Broadcasting Corporation, which also accommodates Imo Newspapers, the publishers of Statesman over the weekend.
His words; “One of the visions of Owelle Rochas Okorocha led Rescue Mission Government is to rebuild and awaken moribund industries in the State and ensure that they get equipped to compete favourably with the today’s business Organisations.
Prince Madumere confirmed that the newspaper outfit will accommodates about eighty personnel in its work force, which he said is in line with the job creation policy of the State.
Speaking further, the number two citizen of Imo State charged the management of Imo Newspaper led by the General Manager, Jude Nkpado to ensure that the aim of reviving the newspaper establishment is not defeated.
Prince Madumere who recalled the unsuccessful attempts of successive past administration to revive the newspaper stressed the importance of telling the stories of Imo State as it is, saying that Statesman will fill in the gap with other privately owned newspapers that have shown patriotic effort in putting Imo in good light.
Imo Deputy Governor therefore gave kudos to Governor Okorocha for his midas touch, which has played out in New Imo Concorde Hotel, Resin Paint and now the Statesman Newspaper. He called on all and sundry especially the Transition Committee Chairmen of the twenty-seven local governments of Imo State to ensure they patronize Statesman Newspaper.
In their separate speeches, the Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Public Utilities, Hon. Obinna Nshirim and General Manager of Imo Newspapers , Hon. Jude Nkpado thanked Governor Okorocha for his feats in reviving some industries most people felt were irretrievable especially that of new Statesman.
Nkpado promised to ensure that the newspaper is run professionally and make it compete nationally. He also revealed that the rebranded newspaper is already on-line to reach.
The high point of the event wasĀ when the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze MadumereĀ on behalf of Governor Okoroch unveiled “new Statesman”, which was preceded by special songs performed by the the staff of the outfit.
