The Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Benjamin Uwajumogu has denied the rumour making the rounds that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was collecting money from people in its current registration exercise.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST in Abuja, the lawmaker described it as concocted lies coming from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in order to halt massive migration of people into the All Progressives Congress in the South East.
According to him, the APC was being deepened in the South East because of its performance in the present administration, a situation he said was not palatable for the outgone Peoples Democratic Party.
“We least expect this kind of rumours, but I want to tell you that this kind of lies will not last. Nobody in the APC in the South collects money from anybody for registration.
“People are moving into the South East because they could see visibly government’s performance in the zone and this is not just propaganda, but you could see things for yourself what government is doing right now”, he noted.
Senator Uwajumogu explained that President Muhammadu Buhari awarded the contract of second Niger Bridge with 80% cash payment.
He also stressed that the ongoing rehabilitation of Enugu – Port Harcourt road after so many years of nightmare were among those things triggering the thought of people of South East into the All Progressives Congress.
“Our memory has not failed us that the second Niger bridge was promised to be constructed in the last 17years and since then, it has been cock and bull story by PDP led administration, but this administration has started its construction and the reconstruction of Enugu – Port Harcourt road”, he explained.
He advised the people of the zone to be united in political ideology and key into the sincerity of the APC government so that the zone can benefit massively.
