While news about the death of legendary traditionalist, Prince Damian Nwankwo Okoye Emesuo, popularly called Perricomo, Ichie Mezuo, Arusi Makaja 1 of Igboland was being spread, what people forgot to add was that he was also buried just  hours after his died.

 According to the SA on Entertainment and Protocol to Imo State Governor, Hon. Chukwunonye Iruno who witnessed the internment of the deceased, at Ndiogbuonyeoma, Ndibeuche, Aro-Amuro (Arondizuogu) Autonomous Community in Okigwe LGA of Imo State, where the former Sole Administrator of Okigwe LGA is now the SDC Chairman, the late traditionalist gave a strict instruction that he should not be taken to the morgue after his death and must be buried the same day.

He said: “Indeed I visited his country home, Ndiogbuonyeoma, Ndibeuche, Aro-Amuro (Arondizuogu) Autonomous Community in Okigwe LGA of Imo State.
I witnessed arrangements for his interment to the mother earth in line with his unalterable specific instructions that, he must not be taken to the morgue, and that he must be buried few hours after his departure.

“As I write now, Prince Damian Nwankwo Okoye Emesuo, Perricomo, Ichie Mezuo, Arusi Makaja, Nnwa siri owere baa nneya awho, a foremost Senior Advocate Of Igbo Culture and Tradition, a worthy builder, preserver and projector of the people’s heritage; an enigmatic poetry and proverbs genus, indeed a legendary indigenous music minister, is buried.

Hon Irouno who referred to the diseased as a ‘reservoir of wisdom and ancient history’, prayed that God will give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Prince Damian Nwankwo Okoye Emesuo passed on at exactly 4:30am on Thursday February 16, 2017 having been hospitalized in Owerri after a brief illness.
