After seven years, Imo State police command has got a commissioner of police of South East origin.
The new CP, Chris Ezeike, who hails from Oga in Anambra State had held sway in Rivers and Delta States, respectively and is coming after 7 years an Igbo born CP, Alloy Okorie left as the police helmsman in the state.
The coming of the new CP, was aftermath of the immediate out gone CP, Taiwo Lakanu, who got promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and posted to the force headquarters, Abuja, as the AIG in charge of operations.
A police source who craved anonymity told our correspondent that the new CP who is already in the state was expected to resume work officially on Monday after a courtesy visit to the governor, Rochas Okorocha at government house, Owerri, the state capital.
Our correspondent learnt that the stay of the new CP in the State would be shot lived as he would be proceeding to his retirement leave in October this year.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Andrew Enwerem, a Deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed that Lakanu had got promoted to the next rank.
Enwerem, confirmed that a new CP had arrived the state and would be resuming work on Monday.
Lagos state born, Lakanu, who was posted to the state in September, 2015, was the longest living CP in the state in a while, having held sway for a year and six months.
Ezeike,was the immediate CP of police college, Ikeja, Lagos state.
