With the exclusion of female artistes in some high profile events especially in the eastern part of Nigeria becoming the order of the day, frontline blogger and writer, Chinedu Hardy Nwadike has spoken out to say that the trend has to end because the ladies deserve more than they are getting.
Hardy who runs the event Divas Stage Tour, a concert for only female entertainers, said most of the female artistes who are always excluded are better than some males who are listed in events.
He revealed that it is not a matter of gender equality, but based on quality.
“I marvel when see some event posters and everything seems like boys hostel. Not that there aren’t good female artistes but there’s always this excuse that they forgot.
It is getting to the point when some people say we don’t have good female artistes especially in Imo State, but I laugh it off because some of the male artistes they mention will end up as scrubbers when the female artistes we have here are done on stage”, he said.
The award winning blogger further stated that the invention of Divas Stage Tour has seen the improvement of the lots some female entertainers as well as encouraging others to come in.
“Last time at the Imo Artistes Conference, the ladies stole the show. LadyG, Sparks, Floxy and Vivada nailed it and the event was just about them, all because they were given the opportunity to do their thing.
Last time it was difficult to find a good female DJ in Owerri, but today we have more than 5 of them, same thing with comedians who are boldly walking into the scene.
”They can’t shine in their respective bedrooms, it has to be on stage and that will have to come through opportunities from organizers of events” he concluded.
