This is my letter to the Imo Based Artistes on my trip to South Africa, the general state of affairs regarding State EXCO dissolution, my new assignments and the expectations in the entertainment industry in the state pending reconstitution of the EXCO.
Greetings to you, my good people of the Entertainment Family. I’m happy to note that the house is graciously bubbling in peace, releases, birthdays and general activities even in my unannounced absence.
You are aware that the first phase of my superintendence of the entertainment industry in the state was concluded in style with Timaya’s visit on the 2017 Democracy Day Celebration, which was accompanied by His Excellency’s unsurprised dissolution of the entire executive council, including the LGA Transition Committee Chairmen, with the exception of the SGI and Chief Of Staff. I thank you all for your individual and collective cooperation incidental to the present stature of the entertainment architecture in Imo State.
However, His Excellency, in his ingenious wisdom has ensured gracious assignments for the unbroken sustainability of critical areas of his people oriented and productivity driven government with entertainment inclusive, pending the reconstitution of executive council.
Consequently, in line with these assignments, I left Nigeria for South Africa quickly after TBoy’s Jollof Jokes, in the company of our young cultural Ambassadors, Princess Judith Nzubechukwu Orisaekeziem (Ada Imo) and Prince Frank Jason Alozie (Opara Imo).
The trip is in partial fulfilment of their conferred glorious reign by His Excellency, Our Father and Governor, Owelle Ndigbo, Rochas Okorocha.
As part of this new era, the National Executive of the Performing Musicians Of Nigeria (PMAN), has penciled Imo State for this year June 21st celebration of the World Music Day, the highpoint of the event will be the Grand Homecoming of the 2017 Winner of the world’s highest music award, the USA Emmy Grammy Award, the first Nigerian, particularly of Imo descent, Erivo Cynthia.
Nigeria, with our multiple talents and waves in music had made many unsuccessful attempts through the likes of Femi Anikulapo Kuti, 2Face Idibia, WizKids, Olamide among others to win this award.
Only some Africans had won this greatest global entertainment award since its inception January 25th 1949, they are:
1. Wouter Kellerman
2. Ladysmith Mambazo (South Africa),
3. Tinariwen (Northern Mall)
4. Youssou N’ Dour (Senegal)
5. Ali Farka Toure (Mali)
6. Angelique Kidjo (Benin)
7. Gospel Choir from Soweto, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar were among the hottest nominees.
Therefore, the victory of Erivo Cynthia, an Ezinihite Mbaise British born Musician, Actress and Songwriter, stands as a bragging right in the fortunes profile of the state and happening in the reign of the rescue mission, our own time.
June 21st World Music Day, will be that happy day of financial redemption and further empowerment platform for Imo Artistes. No matter the time it takes, there should be no good bye to success for the living.
Let me felicitate with TBoy for the success of his Jollof Jokes, all his supporters, the birthday celebrities present and past, and indeed all of us for keeping the flame of entertainment alive in Imo State.
Please, remain focused, diligent and encourage your love for one another, this sky will forever be too large to accommodate all stars, have a lovely day at home!
Hon. Irouno Chukwunonye
