Former APC chieftain and one time Imo Guber candidate, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha has dropped a hint that he would be running for Imo State Gubernatorial election come 2019.
The social activist and lawyer who spoke in Owerri while meeting with Imo State Bloggers Association ISBA, said that he prefers to be seen as an activist than a politician because before becoming a politician, he was an activist.
After criticizing Gov. Okorocha for demolishing the Owerri New Market, Hon. Onyeagocha described the recent actions of the Imo State Governor as ‘senseless’.
He however said he regrets working with the governor during the 2015 election, going on to brag that he was one of the people that brought Gov. Okorocha to power in his second term.
When asked why he has taken it upon himself to fight Gov. Okorocha and what he stands to gain, the former House of Representative Member, said he is fighting for Imo State which is also his state. He shelved off pressure from ISBA members to declare his 2019 ambitions by saying that there is no ambition yet and if something comes up in the future, everyone will know.
Should Hon. Uche Onyeagocha decide to run, he would be faced with the huddle of scaling through a star-studded All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, which also has the likes of, Humphrey AnumoduFrank Nneji, Ike C. Ibe, Linus Okorie, amongst others.
