Ace music producer cum singer, Suspense Babani has said that a more centralized music market and industry would expose the bulk of talents in the country against the dominance by Lagos market which has cast shadows on other parts of the country.

Speaking to www.otowngist.com in Owerri, Imo State, the stylish producer said, “You’ll often wonder if they do music in some parts of the country because it is even difficult for artistes in such areas to be known by their people”

“I think something has to be done about it because it will be unfair for the country to depend on one location as if it is the only one that has light.”

Bagging the E-Celebrity as well as VibesnGists Awards, the multiple hit making producer said people like him can be the best music producer in the country, if he gets more attention from the media and the market.

“I know where I belong when it comes to quality, but when location is the yardstick, you see yourself lining up behind some producers who cannot match half of you and it often makes people lose focus and in most cases I see some good guys quitting because they believe there’s nothing for them in the game”

“Most of us don’t know what we have, especially in the east until we see the person captured by the West”

“Some people in the streets can tag an artiste a ‘good for nothing’ until they start seeing him on satellite TV. They don’t really appreciate the ‘local artistes’; no one really screams for them in shows and when it happens, it’s a case of sympathy”

“When people outside Lagos start appreciating their artistes, pay them well, you’ll see things changing. Even when this will not take away the monopoly Lagos is enjoying, it will go a long way to help other areas stand on their own and not make every artiste want to find themselves in Lagos” , he said.
