The Chief of Staff, Government House Owerri, Chief Uche Nwosu has applauded Mothers for the care and affection they show to their children.
The Chief of Staff said this while unveiling the statue of the “Blessed Virgin Mary” in commemoration of Mothers’ Day Celebration at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Owerri.
Chief Nwosu said Catholics only honoured Virgin Mary as the mother through who Jesus Christ took human form and do not worship her as erroneously believed by some people.
He said mothering Sunday reminded him of his mother who worked hard doing menial jobs to see him through higher institution and encouraged the youth to reciprocate their mothers’ love with and compassion.
He also donated the sum of one million naira to them.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Charles Ikwuegbu commended Chief Nwosu for worshipping with them and prayed God to bless him the more.
