Chief C.U Nwadike, the Chief Executive Officer Livinco Electrical Nig.Ltd, the company handling the electrification project of Ideato North LGA has restated the commitment of his company to supply light to the area before the end of the month of April 2018.
He made this disclosure while conducting newsmen round the EEDC substation in Akokwa where he reaffirmed the readiness of the company to power the entire Ideato North before the end of the month. Nwadike hinted that the only hitch currently delaying the progress of the work is the non-release of the last tranche of funds for the project occasioned by certain challenges which affected the February FAAC fund to the State.
According to C.U Nwadike, the money has already been approved for release by Governor Okorocha and is expected to be credited from the FAAC fund for the month of March. “I can assure you that if that fund reaches us today, then it is a done deal that light will be in Ideato before the end of this month”. He said. In his words “The EEDC substation in Akokwa had two 7.5KV transformers which until we fixed the fault two months ago were leaking oil front and back, were damp and having serious moisture problems. Right now the transformers are 100 percent fit and can receive power from Orlu substation. Minor works still remain to be done on the control room panel breakers. Once that is done, we can fire Akokwa, Osina, Uzii, Urualla and Isiokpo with power in the next 2 weeks. The current arrangement will give light to 90 percent of Akokwa town, Isiokpo and Uzzii. The 33KV that will be received from Orlu will be stepped down here to distribute at 11KV which is easier to maintain. The likes of Obodoukwu and Akpulu are not captured in this distribution because they are already getting light from the Uga substation”.
Continuing, Nwadike disclosed that Arondizougu at some point was added to the distribution “and I want to assure Arondizougu that it will not take more than two months to have their light issues fixed. The Livinco boss praised Governor Rochas Okorocha for funding the light project so far.
“The Governor has given priority attention to this light project in Ideato more than any other project and he is so passionate about it and wants it done as soon as possible. I want to thank him immensely for helping us reach this level of progress so far, we are confident that with the release of the last tranche of fund, the entire Ideato North will be fired with light in the next 2-3 weeks”. Nwadike assured.
Similarly, Hon Prince Chukwuemeka Okoli, a business partner with C.U Nwadike hinted that following Governor Okorocha’s resolve to return light to Ideato North after 8 years, a bill of quantity was generated and a tour was conducted round the area to produce feasibility report that will aid the process.
Prince Okoli disclosed that the initial plan was to lift the two 7.5 KVA in Akokwa to Lagos where they will be refurbished but when funds were not forth coming, Okoli said he had to meet with C.U Nwadike behind closed doors where arrangements were made to generate funds through every possible means to get the 7.5KVA fixed. “As I speak with you now, we have had to bring in experts from the company in Lagos who came here and fixed the problem of the 7.5KV’s. All transformers moved to Lagos for refurbishment have been returned intact and fully functional and under heavy security at Ezeudo’s house. The Governor has been very determined to get light to appear in Ideato again as a son from the area himself. The Governor has so many projects he is handling, the free education, urban renewal and so on and that has partly affected the final mobilization for this project. However we believe that the company will be mobilized soon and light will be in Ideato north again in the next 2-3 weeks. Okoli assured.
