Kelechi Iheanacho is delighted rejoin Leicester City after representing Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Iheanacho, along with his compatriot Ahmed Musa and Wilfred Ndidi, joined the Foxes in Austria last week where they have been training ahead of the 2018/19 season.
“It’s always good to be back, I’m happy to be back with the guys,” Iheanacho told LCFC TV.
“I’ve been working pretty well since Thursday night so it’s one full week. It’s been hard work and training.
“I think the boys have really worked hard since they came back and we’re coming back now. We’ve been running. You know what pre-season is like – running, working hard and playing as well. We’ve been working hard so we’ll be good to go this season.”
The former Manchester City forward who featured as substitutes in two of Nigeria’s three fixtures at the World Cup, including the 2-0 win over Iceland says that he is looking forward to the next World Cup in Qatar.
Nigeria failed to reach the round of 16 of the competition after losing 2-1 to Argentina in their final group game.
“I think it was a good experience at the World Cup,” he reckoned.
“We didn’t get the chance to go through but I think it was a good experience for us as a young team.
“I’m looking forward to the next World Cup. We’re back and ready now.
“I think it will be a really good test for the team and the boys. Everyone is raring to go and ready.”
The 21 year old who is expected to feature in Leicester City’s pre-season clash against Serie A outfit Udinese today (Saturday) at Worthersee Stadium admits the game will be a good test for The Foxes.
“They are a good side. I haven’t watched them that much, but they will be a good side. I think it will be a really good test for the team and the boys. Everyone is raring to go and ready.”
“Everyone needs a game and everyone needs to play. It’ll be good for me to get a few minutes and to see the level of fitness we’re at. We’ll move on from there.”
