Frontline Imo Guber aspirant Hon. Tony Nwulu who is also the member representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives on Tuesday July 24, 2018 joined the defection train by leaving the Peoples Democratic Party PDP for United Progressive Party UPP.

Hon. Nwulu who won the House of Reps seat under PDP cited irreconcilable conflict in PDP as his reasons as captured in a letters to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dagora and PDP Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos State Chapter, Hon. Sunday Olaifa.

He joined 37 others in the House of Representatives to switch party amidst divisions in both PDP and APC at the apex levels. The party conflict had also seen 15 senators dump the ruling APC for PDP.

Hon. Tony Nwulu had earlier quit PDP at the state level when he declared to run for Imo Guber under UPP and ever since has waxed stronger as one of the favourites in the race.

Earlier during his declaration under UPP, Hon. Nwulu said his political journey has been moulded by God who has always guided him through it all.

“The truth of the matter is that I’m a product of God’s grace and divine intervention. Just like my journey as a representative in Lagos State began with blessed sacraments. Recently I asked God for directive and a silent voice told me to run for Imo governorship seat just like i was also told in 2014 to run for House of Representative and asked God how and where? And he responded that here and now for I will make a way for you .In my prayers I told God I don’t speak or understand Yoruba language and he said go ahead my son everything will work together for you good.”

“For me there is no god father anywhere but God in heaven. Among all of us contesting for Imo Governorship seat, I’m the youngest. All of them are very much qualify but I believe power belongs to God and that is why I’m not desperate at all”, he said during his declaration.

Hon. Nwulu who will now squarely face his Imo Guber ambition under UPP, said he will not play politics of bitterness, but will go all the way to show Imolites what he has for them and not spend time insulting other politicians.

“I don’t condemn and will never insult any political leader elected by the people. If God can give me victory in a land I don’t speak their language how much more my homeland. God said that I was going to be Governor, God told me that it was going to be realized in 2019. And by the grace of God all the huddles and challenges that will come with it i will overcome them and will be sworn in as Governor in 2019.”

Getting set for the race, Hon. Nwulu has already gone for a Leadership Programme at Harvard University and had also met with members of the European Union Parliament to attract strategic investment opportunities to Imo State ahead of the 019 election.
