Alhaji Nasiru Darazo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State has said that the emergence of the Reformed All Progressives Congress, rAPC, was a serious threat to President Muhammadu Buhari and that of Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar ahead of the 2019 elections.
He said APC and its leaders got it wrong to have allowed the rAPC agitators to finally pull out of the ruling party despite their roles in 2015 elections.
Darazo spoke to DAILY POST in an exclusive interview in Bauchi on Friday, saying there is no assurance that Buhari will win, let alone Abubakar.
“We cannot allow ourselves to be cheated again despite our contribution to APC and Buhari in person when our complaints against the failed congresses were not entertained. We have realized that APC has given more powers to governors than its supporters.”
He blamed President Buhari for being responsible for APC’s woes and describe the party as a ghost ahead of 2019 elections.
” There is no way the president can afford to fold his hands when crisis is fast consuming the party especially after the congresses and complaints from most States were left unattended to. But the party went ahead and convened its national convention with the tacit supports of governors. It’s incredible,” added Darazo.
He stressed that hardly President Buhari would win elections in 2019, assuring that APC will definitely lose to the opposition in Bauchi State if the party insists on securing guber ticket for Abubakar.
” Since APC refused to do justice to politicians like Speaker Dogara, Dr Ibrahim Lame, former Police Affairs Minister and a host of them in Bauchi state, count their supporters out of Abubakar’s second term bid in 2019,” boasted Darazo.
He admonished President Buhari to have a serious second thought and save APC from collapsing, saying a ‘stitch in time saves nine.”
