A member of the Imo State House of Assembly, representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency, Hon Mike Iheanaetu, has said he is ignorant how Imo state is governed in the last three (3) years.
Hon (Chief) Mike Iheanaetu said this at a one day, “Citizens Conversation Interactive Session with their Elected Public Officials, organized by NOA in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Stifung, at Rosylife Hotels and Suits, Owerri, last Tuesday August 14, 2018.
Hon Iheanaetu was of the view that the state Governor does his things with impunity, total disregard for the rule of law and contempt for due processes. He condemned the Governor for flagrantly abusing his office by refusing to adopt the rules of engagement as stipulated in the procurement act and fiscal policies.
It was against the backdrop of the Governors reckless official pronouncements and attributes, in the conduct of public affairs, that Iheanaetu fell short of calling Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, a despot. He however told his audience that included the Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Garba Abari, Imo state Director of NOA, Mr Ekeocha Vitus O, Country Representative of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) foundation, a German NGO, members of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) led by Barr Wisdom Durueke, representatives of political parties and the various security agencies including the Police, Civil Defence Immigrations, Army and NDLEA to mention but a few, that what Imo state has is an Emperor, who brooks no opposition.
In his frustration at observing that none of the elected representatives in Imo state including National legislators except himself was present at the public event where they were expected to interact with the electorate, Iheanaetu stated, “I don’t know how my state is governed or run by Rochas Okorocha. We never saw a copy of the 2018 annual budget. Somebody said, “budget has been passed and approved, without showing the members, the content and even asking them for individual and constituency’s in puts”.
Under the present administration, carpenters and bricklayers are the ones who get contract to build our roads and bridges. This is despite warning by COREN, that the flyovers they recently erected are mere death traps.
Earlier, the country representative of Kanrad Adeneuer Stiftung, Dr Vladimir Kreck, disclosed that the International Organization was founded by the last chancellor of Germany who named the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) after himself.
