The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has rejected the outcome of the last Saturday’s local government election held in imo state.

Recall that DAILY POST had on Sunday reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the 27 chairmanship seats in the last Saturday local government election in Imo state.

While reacting on the outcome of the election, the Publicity Secretary of SDP in Imo state, Godsent Chilos, who spoke with DAILY POST on Tuesday, alleged that the exercise was marred by irregularities.

According to Chilos, “We are not satisfied with the outcome of the local government election held in the state last Saturday. Because, before the LG election, our party held several meeting with IPAC and Imo state Independent Electoral Commission (IMSIEC) where candidates were asked to pay certain amount to the IMSIEC, which was illegal.

“And again, the last Saturday’s election, the turn out was below expectations, because it was just below five percent of the total registered voters in various communities. So, we cannot see that, to represent the view of the people of Imo state.

“We reject the election that cannot be an election that will be ascribed to be a democratic election.”
