In his unfazed determination to become the first youth to govern Imo State, a top governorship aspirant, Hon Tony Nwulu has engaged in widespread consultations with vast segment of Imo youths at the weekend where he unveiled his plans for the State.

He made it clear that only a courageous youth in his mould can govern Imo State.

Speaking to a cross section of Imo youths comprising past and present Students Union Governments, SUG Presidents in tertiary institutions in Imo State and the Imo State leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN in Owerri, Nwulu who is anchoring his ambition on the platform of the United Peoples Party, UPP, said youths will constitute 80% of his government when elected Imo State Governor in 2019.

He assured that if elected Governor he will conduct the LGA election within two months in office, pointing out that the allocation of each of the 27 LGAs in the State will be utilized fully and such monthly allocations of the LGAs published.

Nwulu said youths will be integral components of a world class technology hub he will create that will place Imo State on the global map through ICT. He said such a hub will be made up of skilled and young youths that will provide solutions to myriad problems affecting the State.

According to him, the Not Too Young To Run Act which he initiated demonstrates his strong resolve to give youths a voice and at the same time in governance, recalling how he fought courageously to ensure the bill was assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the youths have been given a voice through the Act and more importantly encouraged active youth involvement in governance of the country.

The lawmaker promised to constitute a Youth Council when elected Governor, stating that such a Council would be made up of student leaders that will look into several problems affecting students in the State.

Nwulu called on the youths to see his ambition as a collective responsibility in the state vowing to empower all youths in the State.

“Imo State need a passionate youth like me to liberate the State. Give me the opportunity to produce our own government. Our government will reflect your collective wishes and create wealth. It takes a youth to solve the problems of the youths” he declared.

In his response, President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Comrade Isdore Opara encouraged the lawmaker’s guber ambition urging him not to relent.

Earlier in his remarks, Director General, Mezie Imo Movement, Nwulu’s political structure, Mr. Kelechi Chukwu recalled the political antecedents of the Federal lawmaker which makes him the perfect person to lead Imo State in 2019.
