One of the governorship hopefuls, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha of All Progressives Grand has thrown his weight behind the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, for standing for justice, equity and fairness and choosing to be on the side of the people.
The fiery politician and lawyer made his support for Madumere known, yesterday, when he paid him a solidarity visit at his country home, Lake Malinda, Achi, Ezi-Mbieri, Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State.
He showered encomium on the Achi born administrator and Management consultant turned politician for choosing to stand up against impunity, anti-people policies and for saying no to ‘familiocracy’ where public business is turned for family affairs.
On the purported impeachment, he insists that Prince Madumere remains the Deputy Governor of Imo State. He described the purported impeachment as legislative rascality. “Prince Eze Madumere remains the Deputy Governor of Imo State. Due process was never followed and we say enough of this impunity and disdain for due process. For us we do not have any other Deputy Governor except Prince Eze Madumere. I call on all and sundry to join hands in the battle to deliver our State from hands of Rochas Okorocha before he destroys the very essence of the people’s livelihood.”
Responding, the number two citizen of the State commended Hon. Uche Onyeagocha for coming to identify with him. He expressed happiness for the patriotic spirit of the good people of Imo State who have condemned the impunity that is ravaging the State. He described Onyeagocha as a patriotic Imo son who is fearless and has always spoken out against oppresssion.
He assured the people of Imo State of his resolve to stand for justice, equity and fair play at all times. He also vowed never to support anti-people policies in whatever guise.
On his ordeal, he said he has resolved to fight, describing the raging purported impeachment as a distraction to the main issues on the front burner militating against peace and progress of Imo people and the State. “Like I have always said, what is going on is a battle to restore the dignity of our people. It is not about Madumere. It is about the future of our people, it is about our children. What shall we tell them?” He enthused.
