Some Islamic scholars from the north on Sunday in Kaduna said the Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky-led Islamic Movement in Nigeria, otherwise known as ‘Shi’ites’, remained a security threat to the country.
They equally condemned what they termed the “excesses” of the IMN in the north.
The scholars, who also claimed that the sect had manipulated the Holy Quran to suit themselves, vowed to cut them (Shi’ites) to size.
The Shi’ites have had running battles with the state, following their clash with the Nigerian Army on December 15, 2015.
That clash claimed several lives of Shi’ites members.
The Kaduna State Government put the dealth toll at over 300.
The event was the book presentation on the ‘Fallacy of Shi’ite beliefs,’ authored by a Fulani professor, Umar Labdo, of the Maitama Sule University (formerly Northwest University), Kano.
It was held under the auspices of the Mahdi Foundation and the International Institute for Islamic Research and Development.
According to the JNI’s Secretary-General, the only way to check the excesses of the Shi’ites is through the acquisition of knowledge in order to dislodge them.
“We have come to the end of this important presentation. If there is knowledge, we can change the excesses of the Shi’ites,” Khalid said.
The book reviewer, from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Salisu Shehu Abubakar, expressed grave concern that the Shi’ites had manipulated the Quran to suit themselves.
