The Kaduna High Court has rejected the bail application of the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shiites, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife.
The court refused their bail applications on the ground that they did not attach a medical report.
It said there were sufficient doctors and medical personnel deployed for their health services in the Department of State Services (DSS) custody.
The state prosecutor, Dari Bayero, disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the sitting as journalists were barred from covering the court proceeding.
The matter was thereafter adjourned to January 22, 2019, for accelerated hearing.
In another development, a group, the Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism (CATE), has accused the Amnesty International (AI) of plotting to replace Boko Haram with another deadly terror group.
National Co-ordinator of the group, Gabriel Onoja, at a press conference yesterday said the recent assertion by the Amnesty International, in which it called on the Federal Government to hold security forces accountable for alleged killing of IMN members, was a campaign of incitement against the Nigerian state.
“We are concerned that Amnesty International is on the way to providing the incentives to make its ally, IMN, into a replacement for Boko Haram after it became glaring that Boko Haram will never be able to provide the kind of destabilisation it had hoped for,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Command of the State Security Services (SSS) has arrested six persons suspected to be killers of Agom Adara, Dr. Maiwada Galadima.
The State Command Director, Mr. Mahmud Ningi, disclosed this yesterday during a press briefing while parading the suspects.
But the Kaduna State government, in a statement by spokesperson to the governor, Samuel Aruwan, urged the security operatives to make swift conclusion of investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspects.
