The Jidda Pariya, a solidarity movement for Atiku Abubakar ahead of 2019, said on Sunday, November 18, through its coordinator in Imo, that it promises to deliver over 2 million votes from the state to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The group added that it will also mobilize to secure more votes for the presidential candidate in most parts of the south east.
Jidda Pariya said the group has 146,412 members with 6,405 executives across the 305 wards in the 27 local government councils of the state.
“Our passion to deliver HE Atiku Abubarkar is based on our conviction, his pedigree, credibility and astuteness in repositioning the Nigerian economy, tackle security challenges, which will help address the marginalization of Ndi Igbo in the areas of federal appointments, employment, infrastructural development in the south east and Imo state in particular” the group said.
It was earlier reported that Atiku Abubakar told the campaign organisation of President Muhammadu Buhari that promises will not move Nigeria away from its current challenges.
Reading through the presentation, we note that it is very vague on policy and very big on promises. Promises are cheap. Anyone can make promises and indeed, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress did make quite a number of promises which they either denied or did not fulfill, such as the promise to create 3 million jobs per annum and to equalise the value of the Naira with the dollar.
However, policies are the plans and roadmaps that will be used to achieve those promises. Promises made without policies are like a house without a foundation, they will fall. And we have seen proof of that in Nigeria in the last three years.
“Without a concrete policy, these ‘next level’ promises are nothing more than next level propaganda. We counsel the Buhari campaign that the time for propaganda has gone and Nigerians are now interested in proper agenda.
“In fact, the feedback we have received from Nigerians is one of alarm. Over the last three and a half years of the Buhari administration, Nigeria was officially named as the world headquarters for extreme poverty. Nigerians are asking if this administration is planning ‘next level’ poverty for them?” the campaign organisation asked.
The minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, however, said on Saturday, November 17, that President Muhammadu Buhari was laying the foundation for economic growth of Nigeria through infrastructure renewal.
