The Imo State Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Mr. Mike Nze, has declared that there is no government in Imo but family business.
The party Chairman made the disclosure in his office Wednesday while speaking to media men and some party faithful in an interaction session.
He gave serious knocks and thumbs down to the manner in which government activities are carried on in the state. Nze lamented that ‘a man will stand on the street and award contract without due process, will wake up any day to sack his Deputy Governor, and people who pass through the due process of recruitment are discharged anyhow”.
Continuing, he regretted that, ‘if you are not a part of the family nothing comes to you, if you are not married to the governor’s daughter you cannot succeed him, and if you are not an in-law you cannot be commissioner”.
He argued further that if Chief Sam Mbakwe had ran this kind of government there would not have been an Evan Enwerem government neither would we have an Achike Udenwa regime, but would have ended up with only Obowo government and their inlaws.
Speaking with a tone of finality he stressed that Imo does not belong to any particular family and that’we will take it back. We will take it by ballot not by bullet’.
Nze pointed out that Nigeria is very resourceful but is challenged by leadership crisis. According to him, once we get the leadership right every other thing will fall in place. This is the reason he indicated that NRM has strategized to take over the leadership of the state by presenting, a qualified, credible and impeccable leader with untainted record.
The Chairman extolled the sterling qualities of the governorship candidate, Barr. Godswill Anuchauka, whom he said that they carefully chosen because of his strong background unlike in the past when leaders whose parentage and background are not known, vitiating any chance of getting someone to call them to order.
Tracing the origin of his party, he indicated that it metamorphosed from a political organization of young men and women who came together after studying what is happening in Nigeria presently and vowed to make things work.
Lamenting the rate of mass exodus in the country to foreign lands by Nigerian youths in search of greener pasteur, Nze stated that they formed a political party that will take over governance in order to keep Nigerians at home so as to develop the country.
‘We can’t keep Nigerians at home because our graduate lack jobs to do and those who have jobs are not paid as at when due”, he concluded. He called on Imo people to vote for their candidate in the forthcoming election. He also advised Imo people to pick up their PVC’s and get ready for the real rescue devoid of deceits, a rescue they can rely on or take to the bank.
