The Imo state Police Command Tuesday, issued a disclaimer to a report posted on social media which was alleged to have been issued by the command regarding the governorship primary election of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

The command stated that the report did not emanate from Imo state police Command.

Imo state Command of Police in a release issued through the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, advised the general public not to be misled by the false police report posted on social media”

The release reads further:

“The attention of Imo State Police Command has been drawn to a report posted on social media alleged to have been issued by the Imo State Police Command regarding the Governorship primary election of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State. The Command wishes to categorically state that the report did not emanate from Imo State Police Command.

“For purpose of clarity, where the Command is directed or invited to witness the conduct of any Governorship Primary Election or any other Primary Election as the case may be, the Command usually prepares a report on such election and forwards it to the Force Headquarters, Abuja after the conduct of the said election.

Where a person(s) or body applies for such report, the established command procedure is that a copy of the particular report sent to Force Headquarters, Abuja will be certified by the Officer-in-Charge Legal Department of the Command and issued to said person or body that have applied for same, consequent upon the approval of the Commissioner of Police, Imo State. The command does not send report of elections to a person or persons as purportedly done in the present report posted on social media.

“With respect to the Governorship primary election of APGA in Imo State, the command is in receipt of an application for a report written by one Stephen Anugbom. The said application was in line with the established command procedure and has been forwarded to the Officer-in-Charge Legal Department of the Command for necessary action and is yet to issue the certified true copy of the report to the applicant.

“This reaction is to ensure that the general public is properly guided and not misled by the false police report posted on social media, please.”
