The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has rejected the outcome of the governorship election held in the state.

Uzodinma, who spoke at a press conference in Owerri, the state capital, alleged that the election was massively rigged against him and his party.

According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission worked for the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, to emerge winner.

Uzodinma, who came fourth in the election, said the result as announced by INEC was unacceptable to him and the APC.

He also denied reports that he had congratulated the governor-elect.

Uzodinma said, “APC clearly won the election. The result, as announced by INEC, is unacceptable to me and the APC.

“The Retuning Officer for Ezinihitte Mbaise is from Ezinhitte Mbaise. The Retuning Officer for Aboh Mbaise is from Aboh Mbaise and the Returning Officer for Ahiazu Mbaise is from Ahiazu Mbaise.”

Meanwhile, a former Deputy High Commissioner, Nigeria High Commission, London, Henry Unaeze, has asked the state governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha, to run an all-inclusive government.

Unaeze, who spoke to journalists in Owerri, the state capital, said he believed that the governor-elect had the capacity to rebuild the state.

He said the task of fixing the state required a man like the governor-elect .

He said, “Emeka Ihedioha is the right person to lead Imo State now. The rot in (Governor Rochas) Okorocha’s government is monumental.

“Under Ihedioha’s administration, I expect due process, rule of law and sanity to be restored. Imo people went through a lot under Rochas Okorocha.

“In the new administration, I strongly believe that merit will be elevated. I believe that we will have a government that will genuinely empower people and engage in human capacity development.”
