A cross section of the masses of Imo State have appealed to other candidates in the gubernatorial election in the state not to take the governor-elect Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha to court, inorder for peace to reign and for everyone to continue to enjoy the palpable freedom of the state from the stranglehold of the “emperor”.
In a random survey done since after the guber election, most Imolites who spoke to Daily Nigerian Horn were of the view that making case out of the gubernatorial victory would set Imo State 100 years backwards from the progress recorded by the astonishing defeat handed down to Owelle Rochas Okorocha by Ihedioha.
They wondered whether such candidates who might contemplate going to election tribunal to contest the outcome of the election would have preferred Okorocha’s candidate to win and keep Imo in perpetual bondage.’
The masses pleaded further that instead of taking him to court, the candidates should join hands with Ihedioha to rebuild Imo State and save the state from its total collapse.
They felt happy that despite all the boasts by Owelle Rochas Okorocha to install his son inlaw Uche Nwosu with the last drop of his blood, Ihedioha came like a thunderbelt and smarshed them with a supersonic victory, sending them out of Douglas House.
They praised Ihedioha for saving Imo State from the hand of the common enemies who felt that they had conquered everyone in Imo State and so could do whatever they liked at anytime.
One of them opined in a question thus: “Who say God no de?,” adding, “the same way God stopped Abacha from plunging Nigeria into anarchy is the way God has saved Imo State from bondage through Ihedioha’s victory. Indeed it is a victory of good over evil.”
On his part, the masses pleaded with the Governor-elect Ihedioha to be magnanimous in victory and run an all inclusive government, spreading his hands wide open to accommodate the other guber candidates and everyone in Imo State, so as to make Imo people continue in their joy. They also and hope that Ihedioha would wipe their tears and revive them from the dungeon they have been in for the past eight years, due to the ‘inhuman treatment of Okorocha’s government.’
They were of the view that if Ihedioha could do this, Imo State would become a safe haven for everyone to relax in.
Those who spoke to Daily Nigerian include; traders, artisans, clergymen and politicians.
