The leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nwangele LGA have suspended some of their leaders that were reported to have been overtly involved in various acts of anti-party activities.
This was the decision of the leaders of Nwangele PDP in their first post-election meeting on Friday, March 22, 2019 that was hosted in the palatial country home of Dr. Johnbosco Nkpadobi, the party’s candidate for Nwangele State Constituency.
The meeting, which was presided over by Nwangele PDP Chairman, Barr. Charles Nnorom and other executive members, was graced by over 100 leaders in attendance from the entire 11 wards of the LGA, with everyone of them speaking with one voice about their decision to expel the erring members from the party with immediate effect.
Among the prominent leaders in attendance at the meeting were, Chief Engr. Ken Ebubeogu, Chief Jeff Uju, Engr. Paul Onwukwe, Chief Okey Okoroha, Chief Remigius Onuoha, Hon. Ubajekwe Eze, Chief Sabinus Amadi, Chief Silas Uzogor and many others.
Prominent among the suspended leaders were Chief Benjamin Azike; Chief Johnbosco Ozigbu; Nze Godwin Ebubeagu Ekenulo; Chief Obinna Duruaku,BBC; Chief Justin Amadi,Aboshi; Chief Celestine Opurum, Mr. John Nwigbo; Mr. John Ohazurike; Madam Maureen Chimara; Madam Ifeoma Osuagwu and others.
A Disciplinary Committee, in accordance of the PDP Constitution, was set up by the party Chairman to arbitrate over the charges of anti-party activities against the implicated party leaders.
The following leaders were nominated and adopted unanimously into the Disciplinary Committee: Mr. Kennedy Ezeogu, MCK (Chairman), Barr. Justus Ukaga (Secretary), Mrs. Getrude Obiefule (Member), Kennedy Ewuzie, Nwangele PDP Ward Coordinating Chairman, (Member) and Chief Melody Mbamara, the Founding Nwangele PDP Chairman (Member). They were mandated to present their report to the Executive of Nwangele PDP within the next one months.
In his speech, Dr. Johnbosco Nkoadobi thanked the leaders in attendance. He thanked all those who worked for PDP and all that voted for PDP in the elections. He particularly and specially thanked Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC for leading the party to victory in the gubernatorial election. He urged Nwangele PDP leaders and members to learn lessons of politics from Ihedioha as the indisputable leader of PDP in Mbaise and Imo State.
He reassured the leaders that he was very close to the governor-elect and has received Ihedioha’s assurance that he is quite aware of all the anti-party challenges in Nwangele PDP and promising to ensure that they are fixed.
Dr. Nkpadobi briefly recounted how in spite of meeting all the demands of the supposed leaders of Nwangele PDP, they still betrayed and sabotaged him and party by openly working against the party at all levels in the elections. He lamented the extent of bad politics that characterize Nwangele PDP, promising to cooperate with the State Executive of the party to ensure that a reformed and rebranded Nwangele PDP emerged in the nearest future.
He expressed happiness that the Nwangele PDP leaders were resolved to making a new purposeful beginning, stressing that it was the only option for the party after the mixed experiences in the elections.
He encouraged the leaders to be more united now and forge a formidable front to guarantee a better future for the party, emphasizing that the conduct of the discredited and suspended leaders should serve as a lesson for all, with the aim of preventing in the future.
The highpoint of the meeting was the motion moved for the adoption of Dr. Johnbosco Nkpadobi as the new leader of the party in Nwangele LGA. The motion was moved by Mr. Kennedy Ezeogu, MCK and was seconded by Chief Ferdinand Ozurigbo. When Barr. Charles Nnorom put it to vote, the entire leaders present vote in support. There was no dissenter. The meeting adjourned sine dine.
