The Obowo candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Imo State House of Assembly for the 2019 election, Engr Ugochukwu Kingsley Emerenini, has called for the cancellation of the result, due to massive rigging thuggery, and coerced declaration of result.
Disclosing this to some journalists, last week at INEC headquarters Owerri, he said that he won the election going by the booth by booth collation of results with a massive number of votes casted for the PDP, Adding that during the collation of votes the agents and thugs of the Action Alliance (AA) destroy over 30 booths that the PDP candidate was winning.
According to him, with the level of violence thuggery, and destroying of votes by the AA agents in the election, should amount to cancellation of result or at best have a re-run.
Emerenini, noted that the coercion of the INEC Returning Officer to announce the result and declared the AA candidate the winner without considering the petitions of other political parties and the PDP, that voters in the AA candidates booth and some other places voted without card reader and such should amount to cancellation of result.
Furthermore he stated that the AA and their accolades changed the figures that were used to declare the illegal result, pointing out that the result RT Hon Emeka Ihedioha got to emerge winner should be the same amount of votes he got, positing that Obowo people voted for PDP, the same sentiment that made PDP to win in the nine LGA in Owerri Zone, still apply in Obowo.
Continuing, he noted that the average Obowo man rejected the AA party, Adding that Obowo people have the same cultural affinity with the Mbaise people, stating that most people voted for PDP and that gave him victory, he asserted.
More so, he noted that he has gone to the Tribunal, and they have protested over the outcome of the election.
