The Chairman Transition Committee, Umuahia North L.G.A of Abia state, Hon. Kelechi Ezechukwu has embarked on sanitisation process in his quest to to put an end to the existing unremitting gridlocks, illegal sales of hard drugs with its negative effect on unsuspecting public within the Isi-gate axis of the capital city of the State.

This exercise which was accompanied with a directive given to security agencies in Umuahia, by the council to ensure that hawkers and all those who deal in illicit hard drugs, as well as other alcoholic drinks would not regroup within the Isigate axis to continue their trade.

Interacting with newsmen shortly after inspecting the enforcement of the order for both commercial motorists and keke operatiors to keep off the road while plying their trade around the city center, Ezechukwu commended his deputy, Hon. Eze Okwulehie on his dogged efforts to ensure that the order was implemented.

He noted that government policies can only become impact-ful when implementation is pursued vigorously.
In his remarks, the deputy Chairman, Umuahia North local government, Hon Eze Okwulehie pointed out that although the easiest language people understood was force but maximum action would not be taken to stop street trading and loading of passengers in the Isigate axis until they are relocated to a permanent site in the Ubani modern market.

He disclosed of a 24 hours patrolling by security agencies to stop the traders and commercial vehicle operators from blocking the roads to ply their trades in the evening and weekends.

The deputy transition committee Chairman said that the current move was not aimed at depriving them their means of livelihood but ensuring free flow of traffic and enhance the aesthetic value of the capital city.
