In the aftermath of the 9th governorship election in Imo State, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon. OKechukwu Michael Diogu has claimed that his party won the gubernatorial election held in the state.
Chief Diogu who disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, Friday, alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the Action Alliance, AA subverted the wishes of the people of the state by manipulating the results in their favour.
He insisted that the mandate given to his party by the people of Imo State was stolen just as he called for a total cancellation and called for the conduct of a fresh election across the entire 27 LGAs in the state “to give Imo people a legitimate government.”
He noted that going by the figures allocated to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,, PDP, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, that he could not even have a spread to be declared winner of the election.
According to him, the state returning officer declared Hon. Ihedioha of PDP in error, saying that he ought to have scored 25% of the total votes cast in 2/3 of the entire 27 Local government areas in Imo State just as he noted that the electoral umpire compromised as its members made themselves available for doctoring of results in favour of PDP and AA.
The managing Director of Chibet and Walcotts Digitals Limited expressed disappointment over what he described as the level of falsification of figures in their comfort zones.
He maintained that Imo people voted massively for APGA because of its governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume.
The President and founder of Door to Door Initiative noted that Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has the magic wand to rejig the state’s economy.
He however commended Senator Araraume for strictly adhering to the provisions of electoral act by allowing the votes of the people count.
He urged the APGA faithful and other non partisan citizens who voted for the party to remain resolute, ensuring them that “the stolen mandate would be recovered,” adding that Senator Araraume would be governor in the state.
