The rumoured impeachment of the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim, has been described as ‘false rumour’.

His Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Marcel Ekwezuo, debunked it in a statement he also posted on the Okigwe Zone Media WhatsApp platform on Tuesday, April 10, 2019.

The media aide further described the rumour as “mendacious and a falsehood from the agents of Satan the Devil whose abode is the pits of hell.”

As he put it, “Our attention has been drawn to the unnecessary and false rumour alleging that the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Acho Ihim, has been impeached.

“There is no truth in the rumour as it is mendacious and a falsehood from agents of Satan the Devil whose abode is the pits of hell.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Speaker still remains the Speaker of the state House of Assembly. HE HAS NOT BEEN IMPEACHED. And there is no available records of impeachment pending against him on the floor of the House.”

Mr. Ekwezuo hence urged the people of the state to remain calm, law-abiding, and to go about their normal businesses as there is no cause for the alarm.
