The long protracted tussle of who is the actual standard bearer of the Action Alliance (AA) party in Imo State, has been finally resolved.
An Owerri High Court put paid to the agitation Tuesday when it ruled that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is the authentic candidate to fly the party’s flag at the just concluded guber elections.
The Owerri High Court presided over by Justice T.N. Nzeukwu had dismissed the two suits brought by Messrs Chief Myke Ikoku and Leonard Okolienta challenging the nomination of Nwosu as the governorship candidate of the party.
Ruling on the suits contained in the Suit Nos HOW/21/2019 and HOW/135/19, Justice Nzeukwu held that the two plaintiffs, Okolienta and Ikoku Michael Obinna do not possess the locus standi to bring the action before the court, noting that it lacked merit.
It declared that the matter of nomination of who represents the party in elections remains the internal affairs of the party.
It would be recalled that the controversies on the nomination of Nwosu had seriously threatened his candidature with the wide speculations that he unlawfully displaced another person’s ticket.
The distraction the situation created however did not deter him going the whole hog in his aspiration to become the number one citizen of Imo State until he was defeated by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha.
Nwosu it would again be recalled took the option of the Action Alliance route after he was edged out in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in what has been described as controversial primary.
