The outgoing governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, yesterday inaugurated 38 different board chairmen, governing council as well as government agencies in the state.
Okorocha was represented by the Secretary to Imo state government, SGI, Mark Uchendu, at the Imo International Conference Center, IICC, in Owerri.
During the inauguration, Uchendu, said that part of the reason for the inauguration was to make sure that government continues running after Rochas Okorocha’s government has exited.
Reacting, the Imo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, through the Publicity Secretary, Damian Opara, has asked Okorocha to explain to the people of the state, why he refused to inaugurate the Board, since 2011, he was in office.
Saturday Vanguard was at the venue, where Okorocha’s led chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was inaugurated as the chairman of Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA. Mr. Dan Nwafor.
According to the SGI, Uchendu, said among other things, “We wished the newly inaugurated board chairmen well in their new assignment, maintaining that, “These people are for government assignment. We know that government is a continuity and you will work for the state.
“We will give you your appointment letter here and now to start work. Some of the tenure of the board last for three years some four years. In fact by the time you start work, on Monday, you will be presented with the letter that will give all the details you need and the number of years that you are expected to stay in office.”

Reacting to the development, PDP said: “Okorocha is living in fool’s paradise. The good thing is that he has fully embraced the reality that he will leave office on the 29th May, 2019.
“Importantly, Okorocha is intimidated by the feat the Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has achieved since he won the election even without formally assuming office. Why didn’t he constitute and inaugurate the boards since 2011 when he assumed office.”
